Escola Artística e Profissional Árvore, Porto
EAPA (Escola Artística e Profissional Árvore) is an arts-focused professional school in Porto. It descends from Árvore, a cooperative of plastic artists founded in 1963 as part of the city's cultural renewal, and operates under the Escola das Virtudes teaching cooperative, established in 1982 to pursue an alternative, humanist model of education through art.[1] It is considered a pioneer of artistic, technical, and professional education of its kind in Portugal.[1]
Courses
EAPA's professional courses serve the needs of the graphic and audiovisual industries, urban design, construction, fashion, and cultural heritage, including fashion design, digital drawing, audiovisual production, and multimedia design.[1] Its pedagogy emphasises practical, project-based work and a close relationship between teacher and student.[1]
Alumni
André Correia studied Graphic Arts at EAPA, covering serigraphy, offset printing, print design, and black-and-white photography, before going on to ESAD and FBAUP.
